Instructors at A Child’s Song primarily draw from the Bernard and Carol Shaak Method of piano lessons for children and beginning keyboard students. This parent-inclusive method allows for a parent to share in the joy of lessons with their child. Parents and children learn together, by playing duets and musical games, and setting practice schedules together.
The Shaak Piano Method is unique because it first teaches children to play by ear, giving them the foundational freedom to create music in any environment.
Within three to six months, students move to additional method books to learn sight-reading and become proficient using sheet music.
Our school promotes an atmosphere of acceptance and nurtures the development of all children, regardless of situation or personal abilities. We offer individualized programs based on each child’s skill level and goals, including piano lessons for special needs students.
