Our family-inclusive piano lessons for children are unique from other studios. Instructors at A Child’s Song primarily draw from the Bernard and Carol Shaak Method of piano instruction. This method allows for a parent to share in the joy of lessons along with their child. Parents learn with their children by playing duets and musical games, as well as setting practice schedules together.
The Shaak Piano Method is unique because it first teaches children to play by ear. This later gives students the foundational freedom to create music in any environment.
Within three to six months, students move to additional method books to learn sight-reading and become proficient using sheet music.
We also teach adults!
Piano Lessons for All Skill Levels
Our school promotes an atmosphere of acceptance and nurtures the development of all children and adults, regardless of situation or personal abilities. We offer individualized programs based on each student’s skill level and goals, including piano lessons for special needs students.
Group and Private Piano Lessons
Private Piano Lessons
A great opportunity for students to experience growth through personalized instruction. Students proceed their own pace, with a focus on learning comfortably. Weekly private piano lessons range from 30 to 60 minutes each week. Students with private lessons are also welcome to attend group keyboard instruction in order to socialize and learn with other children. Ages five – adult.
Group Keyboard Class for Kids
Our monthly keyboard lesson class meets independently from private lessons. Group piano lessons consist of ensembles, rhythm training, ear training, theory, and musical games. A great way to meet new friends who share your child’s love of music! Ages five and up.
Students of A Child’s Song have participated and won awards in the TASHCO, Royal Conservatory of Music Achievement Programs, Honor Orchestras and Jazz Bands.
